Members

• Create a personal leadership development plan.

• Make a commitment to find or be a mentor.
  
  
• Complete the training to become an honor society Career Advisor.
  
  
• Enroll in one of the honor society’s leadership development programs.
  
  
• Keep abreast of position statements and resource papers available from professional nursing associations about contemporary nursing issues.
  
  
• Serve on local and regional health care and community boards.
  
  
• Attend the 25-27 September 2008 Leadership Academy in Indianapolis, IN.
  
      

Chapters

• Create a five-10 year leadership succession plan for chapter officers.
  
  
• Feature local nurse leader success stories in chapter newsletters.
  
  
• Offer educational programs that provide chapter members the skills to successfully and confidently interact with the media.
  
  
• Sponsor students and new members to attend the annual International Nursing Research Congress, the Leadership Academy, the Geriatric Nursing Leadership Academy and the biennial convention.
  
  
• Create a formal mentoring program for all new inductees and chapter officers.
  
  
• Pair retired chapter members with nursing students and novice nurses to encourage new mentoring and networking opportunities.
  
  
• Ensure that the chapter ballot includes young and new chapter members.
