The Leadership Succession Committee invites international officers, advisory council, task force and committee chairs and members, chapter leaders and other members to submit names for consideration for the 2009 ballot at Sigma Theta Tau International. 

Key qualifications of potential leaders would include: a demonstrated, strong commitment and knowledge of the society’s vision, mission and goals; active organizational involvement on behalf of nursing; active membership and participation in the society; and the time and talents to serve in a leadership role.  See the 'Myths Fact Sheet' and recent 'Chapter Leader Emphasis' article for more information.

Qualified, diverse and visionary individuals are being sought for the following offices of Sigma Theta Tau International.  See individual Position Descriptions

Ø    President-Elect
Ø    Vice President
Ø    Secretary
Ø    Treasurer
Ø    Directors (two to be elected for four-year terms)
Ø    Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee Chair
Ø    Regional Chapters Coordinators (one from each of 15 regions)
Ø    Governance Committee (seven elected members)
Ø    Leadership Succession Committee (seven elected members)

These positions will be voted on by the 2009 House of Delegates at the biennial convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, 31 October – 4 November 2009. 

Names may be submitted at any time by completing a Nomination Form and are due by 1 February 2009.  For more information, please see the Application for Nomination instructions.     

All names submitted will be reviewed and considered by the Leadership Succession Committee. 

After the names are considered by the Leadership Succession Committee, individuals will receive nomination materials to complete and additional information on the nomination process.  Application forms are due by 1 March 2009.
