Richard Ricciardi, PhD, NP, FAANP

Richard Ricciardi, PhD, NP, FAANP is a Colonel in the United States Army and Chief of Nursing Research Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Ric’s service to the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society includes serving as the President of the Uniformed Services University Honor Society leading to the chartering of the Tau Theta Chapter and serving as the current Treasurer of the Tau Theta Chapter.

Ric is a Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioner and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 1982. During his military career, Colonel Ricciardi has dedicated himself to improving the access and quality of health care delivered to service members and their families. His current research focuses on optimizing the health of military personnel preparing to deploy for war and reducing secondary traumatic stress and cardiovascular disease in health care professionals. His service to national nursing organizations includes: Past President of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners nominations committee, and Vice President of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Foundation. Ric was also previously appointed by Health and Human Services Secretary to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Children and Terrorism. He currently practices at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and is an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland.
